Hello friends! We value your health and safety and want to create the best (and safest) retreat experience for you. To that end we’ve compiled best practices for COVID safety and have a plan to keep all of us safe and having a great time.

We’re basing this plan on current recommendations from the World Health Organization and the US Centers for Disease Control and updating it as new information is released. Please take all precautions while still at home and monitor applicable government travel restrictions and advisories. This plan, combined with all of our good practices during the retreat, will make it possible to be together in community safely!

*While we aim to keep everyone safe, these measures cannot eliminate all risk. If you're in a higher risk category we recommend talking with a medical professional and taking extra precautions when you are making the decision to attend the Fat Future Retreat.

Our COVID-19 Safety Plan includes:

Required proof of full vaccination of all participants

  • Attendance is limited to those folks who have gotten/will have gotten fully vaccinated by 30 days prior to the retreat. That means that you would have received your booster shot(s) by December 16, 2022.

  • For our purposes, fully vaccinated is defined as either one Johnson & Johnson vaccine dose plus a booster or two Moderna or Pfizer vaccine doses plus a booster. This definition of “fully vaccinated” may be amended in the future if additional booster doses are available to the public.

  • We understand that not everyone is able to/wants to be vaccinated, but have decided that it is mandatory for all participants of this event to create a safer and relaxing space.

Privacy and space

  • We’ve chosen to host the retreat at a hotel so attendees have more spaciousness in the common areas and in sleeping spaces.

  • Attendees can book the room type of their choice. This includes the ability to have a private room and bathroom or to room with a friend(s) if desired.

  • The main programming space is a meeting room with high ceilings and doors that can be opened for air flow if we choose.

Planning for frequent cleaning and sanitizing

  • Common areas will be cleaned and sanitized by venue staff and hosts on a regular basis

  • Cleaning and sanitizing supplies will be available to all attendees for their personal use

  • Plenty of hand washing stations and hand sanitizer will be made available throughout the retreat

Wearing masks and social distancing in common areas

  • We will follow the current CDC recommendations for vaccinated individuals when it comes to mask wearing and social distancing. Any CDC recommendation or mandate will supersede the information below.

  • There may not be an official mask mandate in Oregon at the time of the retreat. This means that hotel employees and other guests may not have to abide by a mask mandate and will not necessarily be wearing masks.

  • We are not requiring masks for attendees. However, all attendees are welcome and encouraged to wear a mask at any time if they choose to.

Do not attend the retreat if you’ve recently been exposed to or have symptoms of COVID-19. To protect the health and safety of all attendees, it is policy that one should not attend the retreat if:

  • You are actively infected or have tested positive with COVID-19 in the past 30 days

  • You suspect you are sick or have been exposed and are awaiting test results to confirm or deny a diagnosis of COVID-19

  • You are showing symptoms or are concerned about possible infection of COVID-19

  • You’ve had close, sustained contact with an individual confirmed or suspected to be infected with COVID-19, within the last 14 days

COVID cancellation policy

  • All attendees must take and show proof of a negative COVID test no more than 72 hours before arrival at the retreat. Any attendees with a positive test will not be allowed to attend the retreat and will forfeit their payment.

  • Hosts and hotel are not liable for any transmission of COVID or other illnesses that occur during or after the event.

  • All attendees must be fully vaccinated - one Johnson & Johnson vaccine dose plus a booster or two Moderna or Pfizer vaccine doses plus a booster. This definition of “fully vaccinated” may be amended in the future if additional booster doses are available to the public. Attendees must email proof of vaccination at least 30 days prior to arrival.

  • All COVID guidelines listed here and in place for the event are subject to change without notice in order to maintain the strictest adherence to the CDC guidelines and recommendations. Additionally, the hosts and hotel may update and change safety guidelines without notice in order to protect the integrity of everyone’s health and safety.

  • If you are no longer able to attend the retreat because of a COVID diagnosis, please notify us by email. Cancellation will take effect the day such notification is received by us. If such cancellation is made you will forfeit any previous payments made. However, if another person can be found to take your place, then we may offer you a refund at our discretion.
